National standard "Emergency Lighting" GB/T 42824-2023 released

Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Standardization Administration jointly released the national standard GB/T 42824-2023 for emergency lighting, marking a new stage of development in China's emergency lighting field. The release of this standard has brought new standards and technical guidance to the emergency lighting industry, and will provide solid support for building safety, emergency rescue and the the Belt and Road Project.

According to the new standards, emergency lighting will pay more attention to international integration and comprehensive improvement of function and performance to ensure reliable lighting services can be provided in case of power failure or emergency. The new standard includes terminology, evacuation lighting, evacuation lighting paths, emergency lighting in open areas, lighting in high-risk work areas, backup lighting, safety signs, smoke effects, etc., providing users with more comprehensive operational guidelines. This standard is equivalent to the international standard ISO 30061:2007, under the supervision of the China Light Industry Federation, under the jurisdiction of the National Lighting Appliance Standardization Technical Committee (TC224), and implemented by the Lighting Foundation Branch of the National Lighting Appliance Standardization Technical Committee (TC224SC4). Tsinghua University Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Beijing Electric Light Source Research Institute Co., Ltd. jointly serve as the organizers, and Xidi (Beijing) International Architectural Design Consulting Co., Ltd., where the author works, is the participating unit.
