plan to replace 13,000 street lights on the cards

The Wexford County Council is planning an ambitious five plans
Replace the county\'s annual plan for 13,000 of outdated street lights with energy-saving LED lights.
District director Annette O\'Neill said at the Gorey district meeting last week that the road department is taking the lead in auditing existing lights, V.
Annual plans are being developed to replace them with LED lights, saving a lot of money.
Her answer was in response to Cllr John heegarty\'s inquiry about the recent street lamp survey conducted in Gorey.
Neville Shaw, an engineer, said the department was applying for funding to complete the upgrade of solar LED lights.
Cllr heegarty asked about the black spots that needed the lights.
He pointed out a specific dark area on the road to gray town park and wondered if the member would have any opinion on the priority areas.
Neville told him that by the end of the year, he might have enough money to do a small project or two for black spots.
Annette said the project aims to promote energy-saving measures to replace expensive old lights.
She said we were unable to complete the project without grant assistance.
Cllr Joe Sullivan referred to a black spot on the Clonattin Road in the cemetery, and Mr. Shaw replied that they might install more dense lights on existing poles.
